According to The Physicians Coalition for Injectable Safety, not all nurse and physician assistant injectors are qualified to perform Botox, Restylane and other dermal filler cosmetic injections. In June 2008, it advised all patients to be aware that nurses and physician assistants should work with an appropriately trained, supervising physician to perform such injections. The Coalition, which is made up of more than 5,000 board-certified physicians across the United States, began as a way to inform consumers with accurate, unbiased information to make informed choices for injectable medical treatments. The Coalition advises patients that it is their right to request that a physician administer the injection.
