The process is performed with local anesthesia as an out-patient procedure, and the patient can return home that same day.

Depending on what areas of the skin the patient would like laser resurfacing performed, the procedure may take 30 minutes to 1.5 hours. A patient may need one or two sessions, depending on if deeper areas need to be penetrated.
