What is
Perlane®?
Top of page
Perlane is new from the makers of Restylane
and was just recently approved by the FDA. Like
Restylane, Perlane is made from non-animal stabilized
hyaluronic acid (NASHA) gel. Since hyaluronic
acid is a natural substance found in the skin
and other tissue, there is no need for a skin
test when using either filler. The synthetic
hyaluronic acid supplements the body’s
natural supply, which becomes depleted with
age.
What should I do
prior to a Perlane treatment in Los Angeles?
Top of page
Like Restylane, Perlane requires no pretesting,
but patients should take a few precautions before
being treated. Patients should avoid using vitamin
E supplements, aspirin, or any similar anti-inflammatory
medication prior to their Perlane or Los
Angeles Restylane treatment, because these
may increase bruising and bleeding at the injection
site.
Are your
Perlane Los Angeles treatments safe?
Top of page
Yes. Perlane has been approved by the FDA for
safety. Because Perlane is made of a substance
that already exists in humans and is non-animal-based,
allergy testing is not required. Our Los Angeles
Perlane is free of any potentially infectious
substances. The most commonly reported side
effects were temporary redness, swelling, and
bruising. When they occur, these side effects
typically resolve within a few days.
How often should
I have Los Angeles Perlane treatments done?

Hyaluronic acid is biodegradable, so its effects
are not permanent. The results of a Perlane
filler treatment typically last 6-12 months.
How
is Perlane different from Restylane?
Top of page
The difference between Restylane and Perlane
is that the molecule in Perlane is about 4x
larger, so it takes the body longer to break
the product down. Perlane is also placed deeper
in the dermis and has the ability to fill in
folds with less material. Restylane typically
lasts 6-8 months, whereas Perlane filler treatment
typically last 6-12 months.
